In working with 1000's of inventors for over 12 years the first thing I can tell you is, every inventor thinks their idea Is Great ! It's Revolutionary ! "There is nothing out there like it !" These statements however, 99% of the time are.... Not The Case....
The second thing I can tell you about inventors is they never want to hear that their invention is just plain BAD. Attorneys and Agents know these 2 facts, and sometimes can use it to their advantage and may avoiding giving their own honest opinions pertaining to an inventions true potential.
There are many sharks in the water that instead of Honestly and Ethically discouraging a potential 10 - 25 THOUSAND DOLLAR CLIENT, will instead offer "design help", "improvements to make an idea more patentable", "additional claims" or alternatively write a patent with a narrow and pretty much worthless scope of protection just to push it through.
Patenting Is a lot like buying a used car. The wise man knows not to simply take the salesman's word on it's quality and value, He hires a good mechanic to check it out first.
